GSA Sustainability

From January 2014-March 2015, Kathy worked on the Glasgow School of Art’s (GSA) sustainability project ‘ARC’ (Artists using Resources in the Community). The first of its kind at the GSA, this project was  supported by the Climate Challenge Fund and was carried out by herself, Jennifer Fraser and Eilidh Sinclair.

The aim of the project was to reduce the School’s carbon emissions and normalise the sustainability conversation within the GSA. Throughout the project the team experienced an edge between creative and quantitative work which they summarised with a culminating exhibition ‘Counting Consciousness’.

As part of Kathy’s role she was required to; develop a programme of events, report on projects delivered, collect qualitative/quantitative data, produce graphic material for print, co-curate exhibitions and facilitate learning. The role encouraged her to project manage different streams independently, alongside an ability to work cohesively within a team. She worked across all nine of our project streams with a focus on the following: Engagement, Facilitation, Create +Sustain, and in particular reSOURCE.

Sustainability work continues within the GSA as the team seek funding for further projects. You can find out more about what they are up to here.
